WPK collects rainwater in basins and uses it for the plants. In recent years, WPK has invested a great deal in water purifying devices. They work with a system for recirculation. All water that is not immediately absorbed by the plants is collected again and purified to be reused. All residues of any plant protection agents are removed from the water.
WPK is of the opinion that everyone has to clean up what is used. All of this in order not to damage the environment.
There is a zero-tolerance policy in the field of control. We don’t work with bugs. WPK employees are constantly “scouting”, i.e. looking for plants that may suffer from diseases or pests. If any problem is detected during the scouting process, plants are removed immediately, so that there is no chance of further contamination.
The heat required for the location in Made is supplied from the Amer power station, that can release their residual heat in an eco-friendly way. WPK also generates its own energy. A gas turbine engine produces gas power with an efficiency of 96%. By comparison, a power plant has an efficiency of around 50-60%. The resulting heat is also used to heat the greenhouses.
Last years they have invested in solar panels. At this moment there is 1300m2 of solar panels installed on WPK. The electricity is destined for its own production, but could also be supplied back to the grid.
